Bacocho Gallery Project

Curator page

Here is a collection of photographs I made over the past twelve months during my travels to Mexico. These images are a personal glimpse into the area’s life, culture, people, and landscape of Oaxaca City and Oaxaca’s coastal area of Puerto Escondido. The photography was shot with a combination of 35mm film and digital photography. The majority of images were captured with a 35mm focal length, with 50mm and 24mm lenses also used.

I will be putting together a book as a gift for buyers at my Bellacocho residences, and for those who have helped me along the way. These images will also be framed for the opening of the Bacocho Gallery in Puerto Escondido some time during November through January.

I am asking for your feedback. The photos have been culled down to 60 images, and I have divided the work into 3 groups of 20 images each. Working Titles for reference to each group: Chromatic Coast, Oaxaca in Contrast, and Vida Colorida. Judging each individual photo on its own strength, please list the strongest 5, the middle 3, and the bottom 2 from each group. This will give me your 15 favorites, 9 runners up, and 6 which need to exit the building. This is best accomplished on a larger screen.

Your results will be compared with feedback from others to assist me in determining the 20-25 photos which will be utilized in the projects I mentioned above. I will be incorporating feedback received by 3/29. I will share my results next week, and of course, make sure you get a copy in print. Many thanks for taking your time to help out. -- Steve
